Dodge is a division of its parent company FCA US LLC, formerly known as Chrysler. It is an American company in the automotive industry that has been manufacturing vans/minivans, SUVs, trucks and cars. Although it serves a global area it has set up its base at Auburn Hills, Michigan. Brothers John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge formed Dodge Brothers Company in the year 1900.

Originally this company was a supplier of assemblies and various parts but later in 1914, it started building automobiles under its brand Dodge Brothers. Due to the sudden death of both brothers this company was sold to Dillon in the year 1925 and later to Chrysler in the year 1928.


In the year 1914, brand Dodge launched its four-cylinder model Dodge 30. Later Chrysler added various safety features to its models and revamped them. In 1939 Luxury Liner Series was launched which was redesigned in the following years. During World war years Dodge carved out a name for itself by providing ambulances and trucks with tough specifications for military usage like WC54. Its strong and sturdy reputation continued after the war and it created numerous civilian models.

In the 1980s Dodge Caravan was launched that had front-wheel drive and this vehicle named minivan spawned a new segment in the consumer market.
