The 1970s saw the launch of Carina, Publica Starlet and Light Ace. This period saw the debut of Corona and MKII. Later a sports coupe named Celica was produced that was in production for at least thirty years.

In the 80s Toyota expanded its horizon by the launch of fuel-efficient and compact vehicles. It also reached out to US shores through popular automobiles like MR2, sports car and 4Runner, SUV. The high point of the 80s was the debut of the Toyota Camry Sedan. This vehicle went on to create records in popularity and volume and even earning awards as the Best–Selling car many times.

In the 1990s Toyota company launched a full-size sedan named Avalon, and extended its SUV selection with RAV4, a compact car. The end of the 1990s saw a massive production of nearly one hundred million vehicles in just Japan. Brand Toyota proved its worth by launching vehicles that were influenced by new technology. It started with the launch of Prius, the first hybrid in the world that had mass production. In Japan, it debuted in the year 1997 and this sedan made its way towards American soil by the year 2001. Despite stiff competition, Prius continues to hold its own amongst its competitors.
